Currently I have around 5%-10% CTR. My page impressions are about 450 a day.

What type of earnings should I have? I want to make sure I am doing whatever it is possible to maximize my earnings.

DOes anyone have tips given the info I have posted. If not what other info do you need?

Are talking about the site in your signature?
If it is, then congratulations - your site looks nice, well-crafted and informative.

As far as I know, gaming is a low-paying area, and I'm afraid you can get only several bucks a day with it. Maybe you should try some other keywords, that are close to gaming, but not gaming-related? For example, various hardware for gamers, overclocking, peerformance software, video cards and so on - these topics are also nice for gamers.

    Hope this helps.

I'd turn off the "Advertise on this Site" text. Doing so increased my CTR by almost 50% in a week!

That is a great looking site, I commend your HTML skills. Very clean, great colors, good information. Keep updating it and share links with other sites in the gaming market (but not specifically your game, maybe). It'll get there.

Thanks, this really builds my confidence a lot. However I was under the impression that typically evreyone averages less 1.0% CTR unless you know what you are doing.

I've heard for people getting 30% CTR so given this data I thought I was doing well. But I guess I still have alot of room for improvement yet.

    But thanks for the compliments!

It's not practical to measure your site to others, because every site is different, with different topics, etc. 5-10% CTR is average for a site with 450 impressions (I'm guessing your uniques are around 100 or so, since you have a forum and forum gets a lot of impressions from a few members). Forget about the CTR and everything else and just concentrate on getting more traffic to your site. It's all about traffic, traffic, traffic, especially for a game site like yours.

I have been wondering about that...

Did you start getting a better CTR immediately after you turned it off?

Just wondering if you made any other changes during the same time that may have also helped.

I average about a 3% CTR and I wonder if I could get that up by turning off the advertise here statement.

Yes, turning off "Advertise on this Site" DOES work. The less additional links you have around your ad, the better is CTR. This makes the ad to look like it's not an ad.

How do you go about turning off the "advertise on this site" portion?

    Hi Mat,

If you login to your adsense account, click 'My Account'

Then scroll down to 'onsite advertise signup' and turn it off.

My guess is it depends on the type of site as to whether its worth keeping it on or turning it off.

I have turned mine off just, & will post any changes I notice.

    Cheers.

Thanks for the tip Mark, I did as you said I will post any changes I notice as well. Currently I'm about 6% CTR and will watch the change take effect if any.

Also, do I need to cut and paste new adsense code not that I unchecked that option?

I refreshed my site and "Advertise with us" is till there.

It's going to take anywhere from a full day to two days for the "Advertise on this site" link to disappear from your ads. And no, you don't have to change the codes. It's all done on Google's end.

But I am very skeptical still that my CTR will double or go up 50%. I will see though.

turning off "Advertise on this Site"

So far it looks like it may help. My CTR is up an extra 1% and I haven't made any other changes to the pages where it went up. Been 3 days now. I am going to watch this some more.

    Thanks all
