at this page http://www.globalsurance.com/quotation/group.php i had 10 unique users yesterday, 0 of them completed the form and submitted it to us for a quote. This isnt an entrance page or anything they had to click on "Get a quote" to get here.

I'm wondering if anybody has advice on how to get more people to finish filling out the form. Its kind of long (though most of the fields are required) so need to be there. I'm thinking making the form load as they're filling it out so it doesnt appear so intimidating at first. Any other ideas?

Can you look at your web stats and find out what region the 10 visitors were from? Maybe it did not apply to their area.

Also, I believe the typical industry average is 1 conversion per approx 100 visitors. I know it seems pretty low. The best I have ever been able to obtain for my automotive related site is 1/50.

Also, a typical visitor will need to see your site 5 to 7 times before signing up. This is the industry average.

Finally, you may want to try to capture visitors in two ways. One would be the full quote and the second would be just get their email address only - this would be easier and then follow up for the required info for quote.

    BTW - great looking site.

I agree with Rham. Even if you were offering a free product or service you would still have a VERY low conversion. My suggestion would be for the to be directed to a smaller form. You are asking way too much information. Really, all you need is a form which asks their name and email... (phone number optional)... Have a checkbox asking if you can call.... Then if that is clicked have a box which asks best time to call...... Then, after they fill out that first form you can follow up with information and direct them to the bigger form. The questions that are asked are way too personal. IMHO Good Luck

Please list the names and dates of birth of persons to be insured on this policy?

All the fields below that questions might be restricted to only one row, and if someone wants to add more persons in the list, to click on a javascripted button which will add another row where they can enter another person's name.

This will make the form a little bit easier to fill up.

Countries, why not adding a drop down box? Here's an example:

    http://www.ipings.com/act/register

I don't remember where I took the countries database though, but try a google search.

Try removing those * characters which tell to the submitter that the info is mandatory. I would go for a javascript onsubmit="chekForm()" functio which checks and asks for filling the necessary empty fields.

Keep it simple... and make sure that the traffic that you drive to the site is quality not just the usual cheeseburgur traffic you get of crappy "Exchange" Programs...

most of the traffic to my site is paid for by adwords. This site did have an exchange program before, but i've stopped it and deleted connections to bad neighborhoods.

Your best bet is to first try to maximise the visitors you get by just trying to get their email address.

Once you have their email you have to option to market to them over and over and even if they are not really interested in getting a quote you can offer other products.

At least by getting their emails you can ask them want they want.
