Paedophilia has become the new 'Great Evil' of Modern times! Whereas I do not condone the actions of Perpetrators I feel that the whole matter is treated badly and is heavily laced with emotional hysteria. So many 'outraged' Citizens loudly call for 'executions' and 'compulsory castrations' etc yet I feel that these are examples of mindless popular banter! There is a parallel concerning the treatment of convicted Paedophiles that mirrors the way that Witches were dealt with during the Middle Ages by the Catholic Church. One must consider the very real possibility that Paedophilia could actually be a Genetic Predisposition. Many have claimed that Homosexuality, in fact Sexuality in general may in fact be hardwired into our D.N.A.'s. In other words, You largely don't get to choose Who You are attracted to! If indeed Paedophilia falls into this zone, then perhaps it is a little unfair to be treating the 'guilty parties' with such severity? Extended Jail Sentences, Public namings and Vigilante gangs all seem to be the order of the day for the Child Molester. So, is there an effective treatment for this most hated of 'conditions'? Not sure to be quite frank but perhaps a bit of lateral thinking could be successfully employed in an effort to treat the 'affected'. Surpervised living in Society and the option of agreeing to be traced by digital means to keep track of One's whereabouts may be good places to start? 24 Hour Counselling lines to provide a Sympathetic ear. And greater Public Education into the complexities of Human Behaviour. To be personal, I can remember quite clearly as a Child, before I reached the 'Age of Consent', being very keen to discover the joys of Sexual Experience. Perhaps being protected served Me well in the long run, yet I think that the way the Laws are structured do not take into account individual differences in maturity levels. I believe that the whole matter of Paedophilia would be best served if it could be seen through a Scientific perspective and if needs be that those who fall foul of the Law should be relocated to live away from the source of Temptation. Whatever the answer one point should be very clearly stated, that being that the safety of Children has to be protected at All costs!
