Rules Package Deals Rule clarifiations

Here's a prime example of the problems with those skirting this "package deals" rule abomination:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1578352#post12948657

How far can we push it? Can we just list our URL? Can we say, check us out? Can we say, check out our signature?

    WHAT?

Short of listing actual packages, what is to stop everyone from continually self-promoting? I was under the impression when this stick rule went into effect the idea was to curb "self-promotion"?

If that is the case, we probably need some more clarity, or a reworded rule set that simply forbids "self-promotion".

There's too much in between... Personally, I don't care about self-promotion. If it were up to me, it would be allowed here and everywhere. However, if its going to be in effect, it needs to be across the board. Right now the rule opens up some gray areas relevant to what is acceptable or not.

Having been banned when this rule first went into affect, I can tell you its kinda difficult to understand what is ok and what is not when I do not see any type of consistency to the rule, its enforcement or the consequences.

    Thanks.

Since we do not allow posting nothing but a link and calling undue attention to signatures, I would say just put your offer in a PM.

Will do. To save on moderating time is there a way to just report a whole thread full of violations rather than report each one? Some of these threads are rampant. One does it, and then you have tons of similar posts.

First offense used to mean a instant 7 DAY BAN!!! I think I've commented on the inconsistency of this rule and its enforcement a time or two... I C he IS banned now however.

I have tried reporting a post and including links to all other rule breaking posts in the report, not sure if thats the right way though.

I have reported upto 15 posts of a single user this way but somehow I still see them around..

One thing I find really interesting is when you see someone do this, and do a "view all posts" by that user, you find that nearly everyone of their less than 100 posts is nearly identical.

Maybe you guys should go back to just flat out banning people for this? That or impose larger restrictions on posting in bst. Number of posts, length of time here, rep, something?

If thread is riddled with say PM sent, send detals, report the first encountered and make note to the fact there are other of this type posts in thread.

It is best to report only one thread per bad post report since many times we only have a few minutes to handle reports at one sitting. The exception being with duplicate thread reports. It is helpful to have all dupes listed in the report.

The problem with that is the 60 second rule on reports. I find myself many times with over a dozen tabs open on threads where a report is needed and I have to do one at a time, sit here waiting for the next one, send it, wait for the next one....

No offense intended. Just stating what I'm going through. I'm now time limited for the next few weeks and even a minute wait is too much. (I kid you not.)
