Im just wondering if anyone have tryed p2p network promotion. Giving away some url watermarked files or similar. Obviously something legal. Free proxy lists with your url/articles/information etc. How did it go?
1. P2P promotion is a very effective way acctually depending on your market. I would say it works very well with obviously what P2P offers. A few ideas: ~ Let's say your running a movie review website or a store. Release trailers on P2P networks with a watermark or a title screen. ~ If your running a music review website, you obviously not allowed to share album mp3's if we are talking legal. However you can add your URL in the filename and description to promotion mp3's that are released by the artists that you are allowed to share, same goes with music videos. More ideas would be great if you guys share.
I have to disagree - not that I'm a big file sharing guy, but whenever I download something that purports to be something else and turns out to be spam, I'm pretty disgusted by it. I don't think it's all that effective, ymmv.
Well you dont have to spam nor share fake files. Im talking about watermarking or even adding your url to the filename. On top of everything there is nothing wrong with a url in the article or some other information you provide in form of txt/pdf etc
It might not be considered a huge form of marketing that someone should base their entire work into as far as promotion. But it does work!
Do your own tests on your favorite p2p. It just depends on the market. Don't expect much or any sales though cuz most p2p users are there to get free stuffs It's good for branding purposes though
