Why don't we all have peace as a goal in mind for the Middle East. The world for that matter. We're all at war with each other here, there doesn't seem to be any lack of bitterness by either side. Israel vs. Palestine, India vs. Pakistan, Georgia vs. Russia.. It's always us vs. them. But who are they. They are just another reason to fight, another reason to prove our instinctual brutality, they're the reason you've been fooled into believing "they've" ever existed. The citizenry that make up "them", are just like you. Humans fulfilling whatever purpose they had in mind in this life. They have family, just like you. They have feelings, just like you. What they don't have, is time. Time to waste hating on you or being the subject of hate from you. You share that lack of time with them. We're all marvelously similar in these ways and depend on each other because of them. War is inevitable they say, so let our leaders have at each other - NOT US. We'll start tomorrow on this forum and lead by example in this way. Prove to your God, whoever He is, or to yourself if you claim no god, that we are capable of peaceful coexistence. There's still time to change, if there's the will to do so - before the next great war. Do we really need another round of suffering to understand this simple message? CHANGE won't happen in Washington, you'll wait yourself dead before progress is made. Change begins with You and I on something as simple as a site like this.
It's a really nice thought but can't see that happening mate, just been looking at some threads and see a lot of fools fools getting off on Israel trying to wipe Palestine off the map.
I don't always see eye to eye with you, nate, but I am 100% in agreement here. A solution to these conflicts is unlikely, but unlikelier still if we resign ourselves to pessimism and rule out the possibility that enough people involved also want peace, and perhaps desperately await the support of the world to bring it about. Om Shanti Shakti Om
I think we are already on the right path. Diplomacy, global communication, global economy. What brings us together is a good thing. The more we can talk to each other and connect ideas and ideals the better off humanity will be. If we continue to behave as animals, letting ego rule the day and playing might makes right with world politics, we are dooming ourselves to extinction. When it gets down to it, most humans seem to be concerned with just getting along in their day. They want to die with a full belly and a big family. They want to die grateful they had lived and not in futility. Most people are reasonable and can live and let live, the few need to be dealt with harshly so the rest of us can get on with evolution.
I'm trying to understand the whole "change won't happen" commentary. Barack Obama is about as opposite to the present administration as you can get. Would that not literally, effectively, and by any definitive definition you can think of mean that his administration will not be the same? I guess I could see it if the argument was "there's gonna be change but darn it I'm not gonna like it".... But that's apparently not the case? Everything he's said thus far indicates so and everything he has been about looking back at his career indicates so as well. The only thing I can think of that would motivate those statements would be that you all either know him personally and know what he's secretly planning or have some inside information that we are all not privy to. In the case of the latter. Please share.
