Ownership for a domain name!!

Hi friends,
I have a query, i just wanted to know how can i know i have the ownership of a domain name. Although i can see my name and address when i "whois" the site but i dont have anything in white paper to claim my ownership for that domain and website. Can you help me in this matter?

You dont own the name..

You own the rights to the name for a period of time.. The registration period.

You can buy the rights to a domain for 1 to 10 years at a time.
