why use blogger? and have it published to your own domain and limit what you can do?

when you can use wordpress and have total control over your domain.....plus there are tons of plugins that enhance wordpress...

you use your own domain and it accumulates value....so later on you can at least sell it...you can't sell a blogspot domain name...it belongs to google.

The standard installation of WordPress is free and it's easy to install on your own domain. Also, when you compare default installations of WordPress and Blogger, WordPress, out of the box is much better optimized. You need to tweak a few things to have it perfectly optimized, but you don't even have the option with Blogger. Also, there are some awesome plugins for WordPress because there is an awesome development community around it.

[The ping feature alone will help get a lot more links to your site because when you link to other blog posts, you automatically get a link back in the comments section if they're using WordPress too.]

If you can afford it, get everything yourself, if not, at least get a domain.

I agree. Hosting is cheap nowadays. Free hosting will not offer you a dedicated IP so you could be sharing the same IP with the worst ED spammers in the world - which would reflect upon your site. Why risk it? Pay for hosting with a dedicated IP.

No...that's to have their hosting and be able to modify it. You can download the code for free, and it comes on most hosts.

Yes, that's right, and of course blogger is just used for grabbing traffic and money. If you have your own domain, your site would be easier to visit and it can accumulate more visitors.
