Own A Blog? Use Adsense?

On one of my blogs (which is used more like a CMS then blogging system) i show short snippets of the actual post and then link to the full post, i used to have a 468x60 adsense block on the homepage, category pages and then on the full post page.

So basicly there were ads on every page, altho i was getting xx amount of clicks , my CTR was pretty dreadful, and payout was low.

I was looking through my traffic logs and noticed i was recieving a lot of traffic that goes directly to my full post so about half my traffic was by passing the ads on the home/category pages, or was browsing them but then clicking the full version, this meant my ads were getting about 2,000 views a day with xx clicks and dreadful CTR, so i decided to change it.

I removed ads from hom/category pages but left the ones on the full post pages, and have i seen a difference?

YES, i now get xxx ad views but still maintain the xx amount of clicks, but now also have a good CTR, and better paying ads.

I guess what im trying to say is that sometimes less is more!!

Could you please tell me how you show snippets of the post that link to the full post. I didn't know this was possible.

Couldn't agree with you more. My hompage is now ad free besides an ad block under my navigation menu.

I do also have ad block showing one ad at the end of each article and this is also working for me.

Hey can I have the url of the blog. I'd like to see your placement.

I'm using wordpress and for my blog I really gotta change where the ads go. It's not working for me.

If you are talking about Gazotto, one thing that I would reccomend is placing an adsense ad at the bottom of the post, probably a medium rectangle would work fine.

That’s a very good place. I have a very hard time finding the correct place to insert my ads, it seems whatever format or location I choose the clicks just don’t role in.

currently in that posistion they are getting plenty of clicks, but the site also recieves 500+ unique daily so it aint like every visiter clicks.
