On occassions, when conducting keyword research, I find certain search terms which have a decent OVT count, showing close to no searches on Wordtracker. Which keyword tool have you found to be more accurate?
OVT is based on what people search on Yahoo, they are also providing many results. Therefore, this is the tool I use to know what kind of content I should write.
Wordtracker data is collected from the Dogpile search engine. Dogpile has about 0.8% search market share. They estimate the total daily searches from knowing the total number of searches at Dogpile for a set period of time and then estimating the total global searches based on their total market share. IMO not very accurate... Overture aggregates some of their search data as well ie a search for web page and a search for webpage are all counted under the total search results for web page. There are many terms like this in Overture. IMO not very accurate. You need to use these tools side by side to and use your instincts to filter the results. digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion is a tool that places wordtracker and overture results side by side. I also like Aaron Wall's tool: http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/ Which gives world search estimates as well for all 3 big engines and some other useful info.
You can also check the google adwords keyword suggestion tool, the one only accessible via an adwords account, which gives search populartity per keyword. Plus also then there is our KD tool linked in the sig file. Cheers David
