I've started a new site that has gotten some decent traffic( nothing to brag about by any means) but with so many options to market a site, I could really use some help getting started. I know about banner/link exchanges, SEO, placing links in your sig, etc., but what would be the best place to start? I suppose the real question is which marketing strategies tend to work best?
SEO, signatures and link exchanges are the bottom of the barrel. Start on the top of the barrel, and work your way down.
You did not specify that you want only FREE marketing strategies. So my first suggestion (the fastest results) is go pay-per-click. Google adwords is the most popular out there; followed by Yahoo Search (formerly Overture).
