I have a keyword phrase which doesnt show too many search results in Overture or Wordtracker (2000 a day) but in the google keywords tool the bar is about half which means a ton of results. The bouns is there is 0 competition for this phrase. Which of the tools do I beleive?

    Hi andy

I never really put much faith in overture as they never seem to be right. Everytime in the past that i used them I have seo'd for that keyword to be told by overture that it gets 1000 a day and then when I am no.1 it only gives 10 a day so I do not put much faith in overture tool.

    Hiyya!

Sorry to dig up this oldish topic..but I found wordtracker to be full of spam search results and the same applies to all these trendy keyword analysis tools.

You think you have hit the jackpot by chasing a searchterm that supposidly gets 800 searches a day only to find out that after months of hard work you get like 10 unique visitors.

Does anyone have any suggestions on accurate result techniques for search terms?

    Regards, debra :)

There is no tool that is accurate, per say. Wordtracker is great to determine relatively popularity, not absolute popularity. KeywordDiscovery is also a tool similar to wordtracker, which you might find helpful. It's a bit more expensive I think, but pulls from a larger dataset as well.

    Hiyya!

I have used wordtracker and decided to run an experiment. I found a key search term that was suppose to have 800 search queries for a day. I then ranked number 1 for this search term and received about 10 unqiues a day.

I then issued an email to there support explaining that using there information I should expect to see approx 800 visits a day and they said the keyword search term I used was a mistake and it was a spam keyword and that the database gets the occasional spam keyword placed and they are removed by hand.

I'm sorry but this is not good enough. If they are going to charge you (and it's not cheap remember) then I expect the data to be accurate or at least somewhere on the website to say that there database gets cluttered with spam keywords and not all are accurate.

I think the only way to find accurate search keyword results is to do a adwords campaign for a search term and see what results come.

    Thanks, debra :)
