How accurate do you all find the Yahoo! overture keyword utility to be? What kind of search number's should an intermediate SEO expert look to accomplish? I understand phrases getting in the millions are hard for a novice-to-intermediate webmaster to hit..but what about the low 100k's? 50k's?..etc..Thanks in advance for any advice! Also, if you know of any other (possibly more stable?) keyword tools please share!!

If you have a Google Adwords account then its worth checking out the tools that are available within it. It tends to be more accurate than Overture.

I find that overture vastly over estimates the traffic - I have a site ranked number 6 on a yahoo search term with 1 million searches per month (according to the keyword tool) and I ony get 200 visitors per day from it!

Ok..google gives numbers on a daily basis. What are acheivable numbers for a novice/intermediate seo webmaster? I guess I am still trying to figure out what kind of numbers the big dogs go for and what are some good numbers a novice can acheive in optimizing...thanks for the new tool :)

overture also includes some premade searches(from some toolbar menus?)
so they are not very accurate, because nobody actually search that, they just click somewhere

so what kind of numbers should a novice/intermediate seo webmaster try to acheive??..Something that can be done without the knowledge of an seo consulting company..I already know most of the basics of seo and my current site does really well. I feel I can take a step up and try another site with a more popular keyphrase..However, im not sure how much of a jump to take...
