Overture has let me down

About a month ago I landed a high searched keyword that I knew I could compete with. Overture's great reading where saying over 40,000 searches. Of course I knew I could grab the identical domain name bringing me to the top with lightning.

I had to hire someone to build me this site, spent weeks making what felt like over 1000 paragraphs of unique write ups in the site.

Tomorrow the site will be ready to go and look at the surprise this overture has sent me.

Today it was updated and now says that this keyword grabs around 800.
What the heck. This isn't something that goes outta style.

    Is overture even accurate?

Keywords go up and down. Sometimes they are seasonal. Sometimes there's hype. Just a fact of life. Will it be hard to rank for this term?

Overture hasn't been updated since January 2007

I have experienced the same thing with Keyword tools. Make sure you use word tracker as well and judge the amount between the two.

Also don’t forget it not the big keywords that bring the traffic – it is the small keywords. Optimise the site for long tail keywords. Keep adding new content pages and build deep links to them.

I think you are right. It has to be seasonal becuase it is something that's more educational, so probably this is the off season for school. Still 48,500 to 800?
For the topic it won't be hard to rank in. I've studied into it for months and found a lucky shot to get on top in weeks of the most or second most popular search for it. But now for some strange reason that second most searched keyword search term blew to nothing.

Today its showing march. Go and check it out.

I've used three differant ones and all have dropped that search. If these are correct then I just blew 300 hours and a fair amount of money. I'm sure I can fight for the top keyword good, but it's just way too much effort. I was hoping for this lucky shot.

The main thing that's stressing me out is it isn't something that goes out of style. It's been at its popularity 30 years ago and it's still the same now(or a tiny bit better). I would assume that it would've been pretty stable, then bang!. It dropped.

You may find that it goes back up next month. I would keep going and don't get too stressed about it.

How about using digitalpoint or word tracker.

I personally use the Google Adwords keyword tool.

Most of my keyword searches come from keywords with no data in overture anyway.

Related to education? That makes sense: that is very seasonal. I have a section on education and there is the obvious fluctuation related to school holidays. Don't sweat it: it's a lucrative niche with few quality sites. It's also hard to create a quality site for that niche, but if you have, you will get visitors. Getting links is harder, in my experience, but just keep trying.
