Does Google offer stats similar to Overture or WordTracker.com?

    If so: where?

    If not: why?

According to Google - they serve 48% of all searches and with all of those keyphrases why don't they offer some sort of tool?
Wordtracker is an amazing tool - but it sources Dogpile etc.
Overture isn't as good - but it uses Yahoo (owned by Yahoo)

They have two tools you can use:

    1. The Keyword Tool External, formerly known as the Keyword Sandbox
    2. Google Suggest

Neither gives quantities of searches, but both do explain popularity.

Google suggest suggests what you are about to write. That has helped me a bit.

You may also want to look at the Traffic Estimator Tool, which is available in the AdWords suite of tools. If you don't use AdWords, you can use this tool for free by opening an AdWords account and not activating it. ;)
