Since finding out that godaddy is not the most ideal place if i want to setup a phpld directory ive been looking around at various other hosts.

Am i correct in believing that Override .htaccess Support is neccessary at the webhost that i choose the place phpld?
Im looking at ixwebhosting at the moment and they have that.

My theory is to not be on a host that host alot of directories, though that is just a theory of mine and wont recommend my host:p

But why do people host at Godaddy/Yahoo and other large corps is a mystery to me, those big boys aren't meant for this type, for the most part they don't support alot of things that we need. Godaddy is great for domains and I like them so much where I have purchase well over 100 domains in the past 4 years, but no way would I take their hosting, even for free.

Finding out a host is a click away....www.webhostingtalk.com

Yes. You need .htaccess for SE friendly URLs.

Dont know about GoDaddy hosting but I believe that about 99% host do allow using .htaccess and modifying it.

You will be good with most of the hosts.
    I will recommend HostingZoom & HostGator :)

Thanks Fastian, ive literally been checking out hosting companies all day, with 2 things in mind .htaccess and being able to have seperate IP's but i think i may settle on hostgator as you have recommended, but then ixwebhosting offers 8 dedicated IP's, i keep hearing lots of good stuff about hostgator though.

Dreamhost usually gives different IPs, we host a lot of sites there most of which get a unique IP from the others.

Also you can compile your own PHP and bypass theirs thru the htaccess.:D
