Which social media sites are the most overlooked traffic sources to marketing your website? Everyone knows about facebook and twitter, but should I focus on others?
Pintrest is the most overlooked traffic source. It actually has become one of the most popular but some accounts and most visited sites in the social marketing arena. Now when pintrest first opened it mainly attracted women between the ages of 25-45...i am approximating the ages of course...but pintrest is attracting more businesses as advertisers and more affiliates looking for another way to gt traffic to their pages etc...There are programs you can use to automatically pin photos to your age to make it easier, but its not necessary I think. Interacting with members will always fair better in the long run. Other then pintrest...i would say any type of social book marking site such as digg stumbleupon and the like. there are so many. searching on google will give you a large list of them. I would pic only a few like 2-3 t focus on and build up a good following...once you have this following you can invite those over to other social sites....trying to build them up all at once will take too long..work smarter not harder. I run a CPA Network so I use social media sites mainly for updates and looking for new potential advertisers and publishers...not so much potential sales...but it all equates to a larger bottom end.
So you just started out with your home based business. Great! But now you need traffic, and tons of it. According to an ABC news video I recently saw online, by the year 2013 the amount of internet users will have doubled.
There's so many 2nd tier PPC networks, radio and local tv spots that are overlooked. Here is a good list of traffic sources. 7search bidvertiser Enhance LookSmart Miva eZanga validclick ROAR Yandex Adknow
I think, we should have more than one option out there to market our businesses. We cannot rely on one or two traffic sources.
Youtube.com Yes, it is a social media site. Good, informative videos of about 3 to 5 minutes bring us steady traffic, links and followers.
I am not very fond of Social Media Sites. Despite this, I believe that Twitter has enormous potential
Twitter and Facebook are the top choices, but don't discount Pinterest. is a great platform to drive traffic to your offers and you cannot beat the price (free) for the visits you receive. How well it converts is debatable, but the potential for traffic is great. Stumbleupon is a solid traffic provider but might not be the best solution since users will likely bury any posts that look "sponsored".
People often overlook Q & A sites. Yahoo answers can provide some great traffic if you use it correctly Good old fashioned forum posting and blog posting works well too, as long as you provide value, people will be interested in what you have to say or even your website!
Yes I have to say going to forums in your niche is a great way to get traffic. One thing to remember with forums is only allow yourself a certain amount of time there and leave relevant comments and good information.
I wrote a blog post about different social networks that I use. I find that facebook didn't really help me get traffic to my site as it was not my target market. I usually use facebook just to stay in contact with friends and family. I also like to use blogging directories and blogging communities for traffic as well. My advice to you is don't put your eggs all in one basket. Try to do a little bit of everything. Use social sites, blogging directories and communities, forums, viral marketing sites, etc.
Pinterest is king when it comes to referral traffic to your site .. I believe that it is the most overlooked because a lot of people aren't quite sure of the best practices to use.
That's a good question, yet you need to know that the most "famous" ones, like twitter and FB are probably the ones you need to concentrate on, and when you have built them up you should think about "proliferating" to other places. Like someone before said, work smart, not hard - these efforts can take up enormous amount of time, when you do it right.
