Hello! I'm a complete noOb at this overclocking thing. The thing I know about is that it increases the speed of the processor! So here are my current system specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 @ 2.66 GHz 2GB Kingston DDR2 RAM Windows Vista - 64 bit Operating System 8800GTX nVIDIA GeForce Graphic Card. I have heard that the E8200 C2D can be overclocked to 3.5!! I want to overclock it! But I don't know how. It will be great if you could help me out with the basics, or perhaps refer some good links?? And - Is overclocking a good Idea? Will I be taking some kind of a risk? Thanks! ~HPA
yeah the e8xxx can be overclocked like wild, just check out some guides using google there are tons, and buy a cooling just incase. Yes you are taking a risk, overclocking can shorten the lifespan of your CPU,like from 10 years to 6 or something along those lines, but why will you keep the cpu for that long.
Hey try tomshardware.com. i dunno about your specific cpu, but they had a really great guide for overclocking one of the ones I had. But google for links. And your def gonna need some really great cooling if your gonna be overclocking.
