The term "over-optimisation" is something I am seeing more and more of since the Panda update. I believe one of my websites has fallen victim to this. The site in question was ranking #2 in Google for competitive keywords but has since dropped down dramatically. I am unable to find any decent information on what factors are to be looked at first for a site to be deemed over-optimised, is this even a cause for falling rankings? Which SEO factor would forum members recommend diluting first to make adjustments? Thank you.
The reason behind the banning of site is "over-optimization". In this type of situation the site ranking goes down and down. If a person has done SEO on a site beyond it's limit and requirement, it will automatically counting in a spamming process, and when it crosses the limits the site is banned by the Google analytics when it updates the site rankings.
The fight to top search engines' results knows no limits – neither ethical, nor technical. There are often reports of sites that have been temporarily or permanently excluded from Google and the other search engines because of malpractice and using “black hat†SEO optimization techniques. The reaction of search engines is easy to understand – with so many tricks and cheats that SEO experts include in their arsenal, the relevancy of returned results is seriously compromised to the point where search engines start to deliver completely irrelevant and manipulated search results
The "Black-hat SEO" also harms the ranking of SEO. But, the "Over-Optimization" occurs when you do SEO processes over the limits. If you have posted the same articles or same content of your site in too many sites or if you will do thousands of directory submissions for your one website, it will be counted as spamming process. May be it will result in "account suspended" or the mail ID will be blocked. It will harmful for your site. It may be result in banned of your website.
First of all reduce on-page optimization. You got most control over that so focus on that first. Use your primary keyword in title, description and few times throughout the content. Forget about keyword density, just make sure your content is readable and user friendly. Erase everything above this. For off-page optimization use very large diversity of links. Of course do not link to your site with the same anchor text or just anchor text at all. Start to build different types of link than the ones you already have. Hope this helps, Tibor
First of all that's not panda update google termed the update as "Penguin" and it targets over optimization. If you want to get away from penguin update then you must follow the below criteria's in SEO. 1. Avoid commenting on blogs using your keywords as Name. 2. Use diversify keywords while getting backlinks. Don't get too much backlinks with same anchor text. 3. Don't stuff your targeted keywords in your site (on-page). 4. Don't get backlinks from irrelevant websites. (That is not related to your niche).
Over optimizition means do some overwork of one type. for eg. You can post 500 directory submission in a day. or doing 200 social bookmarking in a day. you post all the pages in to one social bookmarking sites at a time etc. It is considered as spam by google.
