yup! It is better talk to your parents and open the adsense account with their name. Do not take risk! Never break Google TOS. That's my advice.
There was a popular saying on the internet back before 2000 : "On internet, nobody knows you're a dog." If you're already used to write a fake birthdate to get access to many websites, it's easy. If I were 12 years old nowadays I would pick a birthdate (adding 6+ years to my real one) in my mind and stick with it for all online forms.
Exactly! There is no possible way that they can find out. I have no idea how they would find out. No idea at all. They aren't the FBI.
he will not get in trouble, he will just get banned. I started with adsense when i was like 16 and i got away with it till i turned 18 and they banned me lol. cant they find out through your ssn#?
If you're in the US I don't know, maybe they could (if they would care) but outside the US, except if you're really stupid and give your real birthdate to an AdSense representative or any online form that is related to Google, where would they know about it? I mean even your dog could have an adsense account and receive checks if your dog also had a bank account. I repeat that banning minors form entering adsense is simply to cover their asses, because that's what is required by the law, no minor can engage in a business contract, so the lawyers wrote that, and it's a clause for termination of account, but I'm 100% sure (meaning I'd bet on it) they're not enforcing it and not even trying. Do they ask your birthdate at some point in the registration form? Well maybe, but that's about it then. If you're in the US you have to give additional details about taxes and I'm not sure what kind of details, so maybe this can filter out minors.
Exactly! But I'm in canada. Do you have to give them your SIN number though? (SSN for Canada) Cause there's no way I'd hand that out to anyone but my bank. Otherwise Adsense is free for the taking.
You can always just set up a business or company, operate the account through that . I'm also dealing with a bit of the same issue right now because I'm trying to get my younger brother involved, but he is 17 so I'm weighing up the options of whether it is worth it to set up a business for him, I mean it's a couple of hundred dollars but it also gives you loads of options you don't have as an individual like writing off expenses against your earnings, reduced tax rates (at least in Australia) etc. There are a lot of positives.
It seems on the sign up page, you only need to give them a limited number of things. Like no credit card info etc... is there more after you register? Cuz I'll drop the whole thing now if it's as bogus as that then i'm done.
So go ahead and lie and join up, just don't come back here whining about how you got banned when they find out and now can never get back into the program and Gosh darn it's not fair and blah blah blah. It's your life, do as you wish. /shrug
I like his attitude, too. He's got that, "I'm young, and I'm smarter than all the adults combined, and I can get anyway with anything" attitude that all youths have before the weight of reality crushes their spirits.
How many adult sites have you looked at int he last year? [keep the answer to yourself!] Were you old enough to view them? Guessing not. So what's your problem with doing the same with google?
If i were you i would sign up... Once you have, google will not care about your age, if they do somehow find out, they still wont do anything... - Sam
I'll tell you what the problem is: looking at adult sites can't influence the rest of his life (other than poisoning his spirit that is). Getting found out to be lying to google can poison his whole online earning career.
I had the same problem, luckily my girlfriend is a few months older then me and i just used her name and bank account info... When im 18 ill set up adsense for me to and then use a php script that changes pub ID to lower the chance of smart pricing..
Sorry if I had that kind of attitude. I was just wondering how it's possible for Google to find out your age. Doesn't anyone here think that's just a little bit creepy? And no... I don't frequent adult sites thank you very much.
