Over 100 outbound links penalty

I have been led to understand that having more than 100 links outgoing from a page will get that page penalized. Is this accurate? I want to include a list of 120 search category links to Amazon categories on my page, but this could be an issue.
    Is it, oh link gurus??

Google states they do not like sites with 100 or more links on one page. I would make directory with 2 pages.

Don't agree with any of the above.

Many sites have well over 100 pages and performing extremely well. Especially on the travel and holiday sector.

Google says if there is more than 100 outgoing links from a page it could be considered as a link farm but this is 100 different links as far as understand you'll only link to one domain , I don't think this would be a problem.
But will it be user friendly ?

I have around 100 links to my resort/city pages from the Austrian site, and also around 100+ links from the hotel page to my hotel-partners..no problem at all. The site ranks best from all I have. So if you link just to 1 domain it shouldn't be a problem.
However, if there are 100 different external links from a page I am pretty sure it will go supplemental.

I agree, even if you link to more than one domain, its not a problem if you are under the 100 links limit. What Google means is that it doesn't encourage websites linking to 100 DIFFERENT domains. If you probably have an index page linking 100/200 or as many as you want pages WITHIN your domain, G doesn't mind at all.

I still believe if you link to 100 quality sites you won't get penalized.

Although I don't exactly believe in it, Google might think your site is a linkfarm. You just don't know what Google will think of next when trying to judge if your site is a linkfarm or not.

I would rather make another page.

lol these are affiliate links to get referral credit at Amazon, will they still work if they are nofollow?

I wound up breaking up the list. It was a little over the top anyway, so now they get a different set of categories on alternating pages.

    Thanks for the active thread.

google suggest you to use max . 100 outgoing links on one page.

and on ther other side, think for your visitors. your visitors also will get difficult to use a page with more than 100

I'm not sure if them 100 links per page is for internal and external links or just external. If they are for both and they did get a penalty then Google will not be what it is today as a large majority of their sites listed will have a penalty including the large sites like Yahoo, MSN, etc. Even Google will probably have a penalty as I'm sure some of their pages most probably has over 100 links in them.

I've got pages with more than 100 links and they do great. Just don't over do it. A couple pages with 100+ is one thing, but many pages with 300+ links may be completely different.
