Over 10,000 Page Views

    Hello,

We just launched our new Website for my business which is located in my signature last week and I go check the stats and there are over 10,000 page views and the month isn't over yet.

I have a few questions that maybe someone can answer and help me understand.

Does all these page views mean anything?

I thought when putting up a new site, it takes a while for the engines to pick it up. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with the traffic but just am very shocked with it. I do still need to optimize the site better but have been submitting and distributing articles and ads around. Could this be actually bringing in the traffic to my new site?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

The articles and ads are where the traffic is coming from. Your site is so new you should still work on SEO. You will always have to work on sites Seo to keep it ranked well once it is.

OK, so when I look to see where the traffic is coming from, it says G and a few other sites but G is listed as the most.

I will be working on the SEO part as well. Thanks for your help!

10,000 visits is GOOD for a new site... register for google analytics to see exactly where they are coming from, how long they stay and how'd they found you...

I am not trying to promote my site. We just put the new site up last week and I NEVER have gotten even close to 10,000 page views and very confused.

I want to know how I can get 10,000 page views and make no money on Adsense as well. Can you answer that question for me???

Do I register for Goggle analytics through Adsense? Someone also told me to try Adwords to see if that helps with ranking. What are your opinions?

BTW: Why did you comment on my Ph.D Girl blog if you were coming on here to belittle me?

That's a PR 4 site you got there! How long has PearlyWrites been up?

Your site's content may be one week old, but the domain is almost 2 years old and has a PR4, so it's natural to receive decent traffic from Google.

I bought the domain in Oct. 2005 and had a basic (horrible) site up. Then around the summer of 2006, I had a friend help me build a larger basic Website and began posting ads on it. The new design / site went up last week with added pages.

Its been a PR4 site for 10 months and haven't figured out a way to increase the PR yet. The company (client) who built my site said they were going to help me optimize it better and I would just continue with the marketing I do. We are hoping with the joint effort, it will begin to increase the PR but won't know till we begin.

This is why I am confused about the large amount of page views when prior I was barely breaking 2000 a month.

analytics should help you see where your traffic is coming from. keep experimenting with the adsense placements, but with 10,000 pageviews you should have at least made a few dollars on impressions only...

OK, I will have to play around more with adsense since I didn't make a couple of dollars; I think I made a couple of cents. Got analytics and will start learning more about where the traffic is coming from.

Nice to see NYC represented on the board. We moved from the area in Feb. 2006 out to AZ.

    10,000 pageviews is a lot.
You definitly need to add some adsense ads there. My guess is that you'll average at least $10/day if the ads are well placed.

I will have to figure out where to place the adsense ads without over powering the pages. Will have to consult the designer who built the new site for me otherwise I am scared I will mess up the design / coding.

    Thanks!

I saw a tool online at some point that would give you the best location(s) to place an adsense code, does anyone know its name?
