Outsourcing ASP work

Hi, I have some web development work which I want to outsource. I have tried one Indian company but their quotes were absolutely crazy (80 hours to do something that I could do in about 12). They may charge less per hour but it appears they take five times as long to do things.

Can anyone recommend a good company who charge realistic rates and realistic time frames??

    Thanks
    Markus

Hi Adam, thanks. I was hoping to avoid just posting to the job auction websites and get a specific recommendation from fellow DP'ers about who to use. I need someone who I can trust as this will be an ongoing working relationship and do not really want to just have a 'stab in the dark' so to speak.

Most of our work comes from designers outsourcing their functionality requirements to us as they lack the internal skills to meet their needs.

We tend to work on a fixed project price rather than hourly rate but suspect that if you are look at indian companies then we are out of your price range.

If you are interested then drop us a line.

but what about the quality. They are offering the cheap services with cheap rates. QUALITY NEVER COMES CHEAP.

Ultimately have to disagree with the above, though we are an "expensive" provider.

$2-3 an hour is not a cheap rate when your cost of living is much lower. When I worked for a bank our IT programme managers in the UK were on about $120,000 a year salary and the same people, doing the same job to the same standard in our indian unit was on $30,000 a year and the UK person thought their salary was low and the Indian person thought their salary was very good.

Now unfortunately there are a lot of people who are capitalising on this and setting up sub standard services offering them at "cheap" (in western terms) rates which means people tar all professional developers in the same country with the same brush - no different from saying all americans are idiots.

But $2-$3 per hour is still low in India for programmer.

yes, this is very low in india as well. if you are looking for quality. you have to pay what the one is worth for.
