Outsourcing affiliate sales

    Hi all,
I have a lot of traffic and I'm told constantly that I need to spend more time building advertising (I rely mostly on AdSense). I never disagree. I just don't get round to it. Managing content is a big enough challenge.

I've met someone who seems quite good who's interested in performing this function for me. He says that I should keep trying affiliate programs and fine tune it for my niche. Sounds fine to me.

We've talked about him getting a percentage of the growth in eCPM from what he achieves. Ie if I earn say $2 eCPM and he manages to get $3, he'd get a percentage of the $1 increase. This makes sense to both of us.

But I can see a number of complexities here. I want to structure the deal so he gets good value so he wants to put the effort into finding good affiliates. But I can't simply sell him the right to manage my inventory in perpetuity because he has other priorities too.

Are there any industry standards or templates for such a deal? What is considered a fair split? How do you manage it in the long term? Might it be considered similar to a sales role?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
