Hey Guys, Do you have any tips on outranking older websites in google? Do you know what google are actually looking for in your website so it values you higher than a website that is created in say 1998? Thanks in advance Oz
This is a too broad question and you should read threads which already posted in here before asking this kind of question. I will sum it up short 1. If your older competitors are not that seo oriented then you can still outrank them with quality backlinks and content, a basic principle of seo 2. If your older competitors are seo expert then a hard work is awaiting you. They have a large gap of advantage over your website in both age and link profile. You come after them with a newer domain age with lack of trust from Google while they have a lot more. You need to establish the trust enough to compete with them.
Google will never out-rank any website just for the reason its a old website. For a website to get out-ranked there are many reasons. If the site is just live online and no promotional activity is carried out, or no changes are made on the site, why will google robots visit your website. Other reason if you have done something thats against google's policy will lead to getting your website outstead. If a website is old, I have read that google prefers that website, domain age surely helps a website to rank better.
Depends how old are those sites and the amount of backlinks pointing to them. But I would say that if you can outdo the backlink amount then you are on a good way
You need to make your website very friendly, easy to navigate and get quality backlink from relevant site only.
Ok Guys, thanks for the replies... Heres some more info to shed light on the situation. The #1 and #2 ranking websites are quite old (1999 for example) ... each of them has about 100 backlinks. <<FREE BET you need good one way links and great content updated daily >> what if the webpage i am using is a squeeze page?... having it updated daily really wouldnt apply I read that google doesnt rank websites but it instead it ranks singular WEBPAGES for keyword searches. so for this specific keyword im wanting to get to rank #1 for it is not my main url but a just a single webpage. does adding links (pointing to other websites and other pages within your own website) on your webpage improve onsite optimization. thanks guys! oz
oh, and the top ranking pages for the keyword have a PR4 ...so in that sense, definitely outrankable. it's just the age of the websites that are a little off putting ;o|
That old site surely has advantage.. but if you could write something far more helpful and interesting than what they have is your chance. Build a better reputation than their site.
hey buddy do competitor analysis first, from where their site get linked , whats their pr , ranking status and many more things. as said above if your competitors are not seo oriented then you can easily
The things I do to outrank websites: 1. Find a keyword with low competition. 2. Analyse their backlinks of top 10 competitors(backlinkwatch.com) 3. Try to get better backlinks than them.
updating content never outranks you ,, you will be ranked at top , but need to keep the backlinks and fresh content coming through
domain age is definitely important factor ..but Good Quality backlinks and fressh updated content can boost you up nicely ...
