Sorry about the n00b question, but I really want to find out... As far as people know do outgoing links affect your PR, or is it just incoming ones? All the "not very detailed" guides to google talk about inbound links, which i know about, but I was quite surprised when i came to these forums and theres a lot of talk about outbound links. Anyway, enough babbling...do they affect PR? Thanks, Pete
Outgoing links do not have any effect on your own page's pr. Anybody that says they do doesn't know what they're talking about.
Right now i dont believe googles algorithms factor in outbound links. But whos to say that they wont in the future. My opinion is that the ultimate PR should involve 1) (incomming links) 2) (page contents and functionality - what it offers) 3) (reputable outgoing links) The reason i say this is that a scummy webpage with no more that 10 linked pages (knocked up in some bangladesh shed) with the right marketing and optimisation can potentially rank in the first page of google. Ive seen high ranked crappy pages, it doesnt do google any justice to allow pages like this in there top lists. Google would be stupid not to be working on future algorithms that take into account outgoing links (amoungst other things)
