Outbound links to high PR websites

What is the value of having outbound links to high PR websites? I'm not talking reciprocal, just your site with a link to CNN or some other big site. Does it help with SERPS, your sites pagerank or is it pointless?

Well, its good if its related to your content, because your visitors get more access to what they are looking for. SERP and Page Rank wise it is useless.

Hi, I was reading the other day and I'm not sure if it's right but apparently if you add a link to google on your page, it will help you Pagerank. I would very much like to know if others believe that.

I have also seen that around in SEO sites saying that a link to google will increase PR, which makes sense. If you help promote google they will gladly increase your rank. But I don't how if it increases it up a whole level though...

I found it back, it's at pr10.com . I'm going to try it anyway but it will be hard to tell if it worked or if something else worked. It probably won't hurt so I'm in.

If it were that easy then every webmaster would be putting in a link to Google and getting PR. It would be near impossible to keep something like a secret and things would get out of hand real quick - just my opinion

I highly doubt that a link to google could help pr. From all that I've learned any link could LEAK pr, meaning it wouldn't help you at all and could hurt you.

Ha, I love this at PR10.com,

I love it! Like my site is really going to provide them with quality traffic..! More quality than, say, the millions of Firefox users with the Google Toolbar installed that daily carry out dozens of searches (like me).

    Erm, I don't buy it..!

And as for their suggestion of putting links at the bottom of your page with dots as the anchor links, that sounds like a way of getting slapped. Though the site is from 2002... Bit out of date!

i think, even if you put links of sites with high PR on your site, your content still matters the most if you want to achieve high PR, or if you want to improve your SERP.

well, the importance of the links pointing to your site is even better.

Giving a link to another site can hurt your site itself. You are just like promoting other site instead of yours. It's better to have an inbound link than to have an outbound link.

It won't help you in any way for seo. Just think about, if it did everyone would have 10000 links to yahoo.com.

It wont help. It will make you loose pore page rank juice from your pages and worsen your situation.

I read the other day in a Stanford paper on trustrank that spam sites have many more links to high PR sites than normal, good quality sites. View high-PR inbound links combined with many (about average for your niche) outbound links may even hurt your site... Think about it.
