I read through a newsletter form textlinkbrokers today and saw the following piece I would be interested in getting other peoples opinion on this. Is this a good next stage for my SEO strategy?
Yes, as I've heard that Google like to see sites corporate together especially when you link to trusted authorities and it provides value to your audiences, so have outbound links like that will help, that's my 2 cents
Authority sites link to only authority sites. You'll never find an authority site linking to a new site... unless they of course own that site. It's been bantered about that linking out to an authority or well ranked site for a particular keyword actually improves your ranking for that keyword. However, recent seo research has proven that to be false.
Assuming it does provide you with some benefit -- will just putting the links on a links page be sufficient to confer the benefit or do you think i need to 'sprinkle' them around on different pages?
Well... we have tested it as well as a few of our partners. Let's say your topic is widgets and you link out to an authority site with the anchor text "widgets" ... what we've discovered (which we originally didn't believe) was that it had zero effect on ranking improvement and did effect the page factors for ranking in a negative manner.
The experiment will prove me out I guarantee it. We found the same results across various niches, PR, site size and topics. It's pretty much a slam dunk in our book.
Well, imho if linking to bad sites can hurt your ranking then it make sense for me that linking to trusted sites can help. though i have not experimented it on my own sites yet.
I've heard that if your pages went suplemental it might works if you link to authority sites to come again into regular index.
HITS algorithm for search engine ranking ranks as good, pages which links to authority sites. There are a lot modification of this algorithm since it has some problems. It is believed that AskJeeves use one its modification.
