Hi, I'm doing SEO for a new domain www.freshleafmedia.co.uk. It's only six months old, came out of the sandbox in June and drifted upwards to position 27 for our most important keyphrase "corporate website design" - which is great but obviously I'd like to get higher. I've run some comparisons of my site against the guys who are getting the top rankings in google (using online tools, so I'm not taking this as gospel, but it gives some sort of picture) Total backlinks: my site 3681; theirs 1267 (also their anchor text isn’t as keyword-targeted as ours) Keyword total: my site 22; theirs 14 Keyword density: my site 3.4% ; theirs 2.35% Page rank: my site 5 ; theirs 5 So I just wondered if anyone has any ideas why they're at the top and we've stopped moving upwards? Any suggestions gratefully received: I'm not necessarily expecting to be able to get #1, but movement in the right direction would be good. thanks in advance....
Maybe your 3000 backlinks are all crap compared to their 1000. 1000 PR2 backlinks > 3000 PR0 backlinks. Make sure your title and h1 includes the keyword too...
Keep working on that blog of yours. You seem to have some pretty nice posts in it — and that's the sort of thing Search Engines are looking for. Don't force it, but tie your services into your blog posts when it makes sense. Answer questions that your audience is (or probably is) asking. On another note, some of those blog posts seem quite extensive. I'd recommend splitting them with some headers. That is to say — keep the post intact, but throw some headers in there to divide the content into more manageable sections by your readers. Darren Rowse recently posted about "Polishing" posts on ProBlogger.com. Might be worth a read
check website visibility. Number of links means nothing. Moreover, the Google does not like a big amount of links. Do not count links by your competatives. It gives you nothing, pay attention only for links which are really worth ( BHW - PR is not very important too)
Very simply. Let us assume that Wikipedia's has 1 mln links- 99.9% are rubbish and only 0,1% maybe less keep the site in the Google TOP1 For example, take next couple webs and check their backlinks
Age of backlinks matters. A link pointing for 1 year has more value that a link pointing for 2 months. This is done to get rid of link purchasing and to make serps more stable. If you have good links, you should go up gradually. Don't worry.
btw: fadetoblack22 - no, their URLs are not keyword optimised particularly but the domain is probably an awful lot older. I'm hoping that's the main thing counting against us atm!
