Our site has over 3,000 pages and only 230 are indexed? Is this because we have submitted no site map? Any other ideas? -C
Ha... what?? 2000+ posts, you should know not to listen to spam and short posts on this site. No sitemap could just be one reason why you have not had all your pages indexed. It could be dupe content, it could be that some pages use "noindex", you could have a robots.txt that blocks it, or a htaccess that blocks it. It could even be because the pages are buried so deep, and your site is so low in priority for search engines, that they don't both indexing them. The list of reasons could go on. It would be nice if you had a link to the site so we could see what is going wrong....
As above.. need to see the url, as could be lots of different reasons... Use a url shortner like bit.ly if you dont want anyone to see your site.
Submitting a sitemap surely helps in indexing.. Though you can try building backlinks to all the individual pages.
Exactly, there could be multiple reasons of the same. The most potential reason could be the interlinking structure of your website. If your website pages are linked in a hierarchy then there should not be any problem in indexing. However, I would also recommend you to check your robots.txt file as well if someone has blocked the pages/folder from there.
1. Create a sitemap, it will only help your indexation; 2. Add your website into GWT (Google Webmater Tools) to check for any problems; 3. Check robots.txt file (if any) for any rules that stop the bots from indexing your links and content; 4. Try to build as deep links as possible - a good, simple and free solition is to submit your URLs into social bookmarking websites (facebook and twitter can also turn be very useful); 5. Try to improve your domain authority - you'll need a serious SEO strategy for that and it could be very time-consuming, but it's one of the best methods to improve your indexation, SERP positions and even traffic. Good luck
Hi...................We know you submitted the sitemap.xml in your website but you have a lot of pages and Google will take time for indexing this pages. You can do the posting in SMO (Social Media Optimization) submission by all pages of website. Now Google launched news fast indexing system as "Caffeine" which will be implement as soon. Keep it up.
hi, i have additional information, if you get very low indexed url, just try to ping your site. If you use wordpress go with this method: Click: Settings > Writing > you see in the bottom there is ping list add this ping list into your site: (http://benlahmen.com/ping-list-service-wordpress-pings-website-update-2010.html --> ping list just copy and paste in the box)
randpropz, I'm afraid pinging won't help in such situations. You see, it's not about pinging, but about domain authority. Pinging itself is useless and won't bring the googlebot to your website. Changing the crawl rate in GWT is the same - useless again. In order to be visited more often by bots you must improve your website authority, your trust rank. It can be accomplished via stronger link building and writing quality and unique content as often as possible. These are the factors that matter, not the simple process of pinging
You have to implement the sitemap.xml in your website and another way to go through the SMO(Social Media Optimization) which will help for indexing more pages of your website.
Create sitemap.xml for your website, always Keep unique content it must b copyscape pass, do link building for your internal pages also !
Each backlink will send some robots to your site and help it indexed some pages, bigger site need more strong backlinks to indexed more pages.
If your site page have indexed problem then you can try these things. 1- If site have large no of pages then it become essential that the site map should be create and submit it. 2- Inter links connectivity also very helpful to indexed more and more site pages in search engines. 3- deep link submission is also very useful in this case. for getting free deep linking sites click on http://www.directorycritic.com/deep-links-directory-list.html
A sitemap can help Google find more of your pages, you should also make sure every page is no more than 3 clicks from the homepage. If this is the case then you need to consider building lots of links to the deeper pages of your website
