From the link popularity tool... "This tool will show you how many other sites are linking to you." I've been seeing these same sort of results from http://www.submitexpress.com/, for the last two weeks. If google were to pick up one of my links, I would have expected at least 1 by now.... Anyone else think it's time to send a letter off to google asking whats up?
Hi Jim, I've heard that Google doesn't show backlinks for sites with less than a PR4, so that may explain it, as well. HTH, Sam
sam, i thought that you had to be listed with google in order to earn a pagerank. Is the pagerank something separate from google? I thought it was a google thing.
Hi Jim, Technically speaking, PageRank and the Google index are not directly related. No one really knows how Google determines PR (it is a "Google thing") or their index algorithms, but it's commonly agreed that what helps with one will help with the other. The statement that Google doesn't show backlinks for sites with less than PR4 falls under the "rumors, opinions, and hearsay" category. I've never seen it stated directly by Google, but I've read it in so many forum threads that it seems to be common knowledge for those who are "in the know", i.e. SEO experts, Webmasters, etc. In addition, it doesn't mean the backlinks aren't indexed in Google's index - it merely means that if your site is less than PR4, Google won't show you the backlinks. HTH, Sam
The Google backlink tool is broken, has been for awhile. Since all link recognition tools run off this Google tool, it's not surprising. I show over 4,000 links to one of my sites in the Yahoo directory, but about 1,000 on Google. Every SEO/SEM conference I've been to has featured at least one person asking this question, and the answers I hear are: 1. The backlink tool is broken, with no idea on when (or even if) Google plans on fixing it. 2. Google lags behind in recognizing inbound links. 3. After quarterly updates, Google generally shows more inbound links to a site. Hope this helped in some way.
