Other Options Besides Paypal?

Discussion in 'PayPal' started by Scott Botkins, Oct 15, 2005.

    Hello,

I'm a web designer and I'm wanting to get out of paypal because of how they are. What other options can I use online for people to pay me for web design and have it transferred to my bank account?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Get a merchant account. Here at digitalpoint, the payment processing software is quite useful. Take a look at the other subforums, or contact Shawn.

I've heard that www.2checkout.com is decent. Just look around. It depends a lot on what you are selling. Services or physical goods. If you are selling software, or anything delivered electronically, you could go with Clickbank. It's a little spammy, but they have a great affiliate program. If you want something more professional, I'd just do a search for merchant account or accept credit cards on google. There are a million options. Just choose one that's got some good history.

www.yowcow.com is a merchant service similar to paypal but much better in quality. Unfortunately they are not as well know as paypal so I don't how easy it will be for you to deal with clients using Yow Cow.

Depends upon your location and what amount approximately you are going to process.

I'm going to only be processing credit cards from web design clients. Is 2checkout a solution for me?

    Thanks,
    Scott

2checkout is very nice. $49 then 5% or something like that. If you are going to be higher volume you can try echo payment which is a real merchant account.

There is also epassporte, and moneybookers that is usually used in adult websites because they accept that kind of transaction.

Yep 2Checkout can be good solution, but their charges seems higher if you compare with few other nice payment gateways like chronopay.com etc.

    hi scott
i have the same problem, but because paypal is not suportted in my country. i sold a few links, 40$, and received the money through moneybookers.com
it cost nothing to set up a new account, you can receive money from a credit card or send money, using an email address(like paypal does)... i think you can withdraw the money for a fee of 1.8-3$, i'm not sure, i bought 4 .com domains with my money :)
    hope i helped you

Is ClickBank an option for you? I've also used StormPay and had no problems but haven't used them that often. My primary use is PayPal and ClickBank. Mainly with PayPal I just don't keep very much money in the account.

I have had nightmares with paypal and with Plimus and I do all my payment processing (internet marketing services) through 2checkout.com. Their fees are quite high but they really look after you.
