Other image ads with adsense on same page ok?

I want to put some other image ads on pages with adsense images/text miex, same size, is it ok?
I saw other sites do this..

You should not keep other ads with the google they might get you banned you might lost your adsense account

 

How about I set Google to Image/Text mix
and other ads are all images?
They will be same size, not sure what layout means for image ads
