    @PokerCardEnt
While Vista has its problems, isn't it a little biased to say that OS X has none? Every OS has its downsides, no?

I have been thinking about switching to mac for over 2weeks :p, but from what I've heard, the stupidest thing you could do is switch over to a mac :p

#1 - If your a PC User your PSD files will not open on Photoshop CS3 for Mac
#2 - Price, I can get literally a 2-3times faster pc in comparison to the recent Imac
#3 - Support Issues, not a problem if your not into gaming, but good luck using 3dsmax, I haven't heard of a Mac version for that yet.
#4 - Can't Overclock, Or do many upgrades..

Now the problem is, people are so uneducated and don't know much about computers, so they purchase Dells, Compaqs, Garbage systems. Those Company's want to screw you over. If your an advanced pc user then you know well enough to purchase or build your own system.. and yeah Windows does crash, but it depends on your specs.. otherwise it's rarely gonna crash, on my system I've got WMP 11 on, Photoshop, Illustrator, Msn, Firefox surfing, with only 1GB of ram, Photoshop and Illustrator are very demanding in terms of memory!! so you can expect to crash.. but if you got a decent system that doesn't happen much.. You DO NOT get blue screen, I see ppl who are mac fans talk about blue screen constantly that has nothing to with Windows :p, its a memory issue 90% of the time, its either ur memory is overheating or you've deleted some important dll files.. If your smart enough not to you wont have that issue. I haven't had a blue screen ever! only when i was overclocking which means messing around with the memory and cpu..

Anyways my point is, a PC isn't bad!, Windows isn't that bad either, you do have to face viruses, but honestly even that I get maybe 2-3 viruses an year that actually cause performance issues to the system, the rest are usually spyware.. most of which u can get rid of.. Fact is if your not downloading from limewire or anything like that you wont have a problem! if you stick to torrent sites rarely happens..

Oh and boot time on a pc for me is 15seconds. It vary's on your hardware :p so don't think macs are faster or anything :p

We use both, and I prefer Macs when designing new sites. :)

IMO Mac OS X is awesome I think it's great. Try out some of the macs at an Apple store if you can and try a PC at Best Buy or some other PC store. Notice the differences and choose what you like, and take the bashing posts with a grain of salt. Good luck. :)

Have you even used Vista. I wish people would stop talking about memory because Vista makes good use of it and balances it out well. Unlike Xp which had problems when runninglarge applications.

As I have asked so many people who keep on putting down Vista. Give me an example of the problems that Vista has. Its ironic that the people who do not use it are the ones who claim it has so many problems and the ones who use it are not reporting much problems. I'm not saying its perfect but it is not bad either.

    ...what a dolt.

when I said FAR FEWER.. I was specifically trying to avoid useless posts such as this one. Vista doesn't have "its" problems. Vista is one big problem after another.

Check out all the major companies and see if they do not use Windows. Even Hollywood uses more PC's then mac's although they do not want to say it.

OS X isn't invulnerable to problems, it just doesn't have many. It IS invulnerable to viruses...

Even if only 10% of users out there are Mac users, don't you think there would be at least one virus for Mac? Such is not the case as there are 0 viruses for OS X, and somewhere around 114,000 for Windows?

dude every OS has holes..especially if ur not running an avp..even apple recommends that you run an avp yet nobody does..to say macs are invulnerable is like saying your house cant burn down cuz it hasnt yet

Yes. Play games or use the majority of programs.

I considered a mac for about a second, before I realised that it was Apple. Quite honestly, I don't like being locked down to certain hardware and I don't like Apple's policies any more than I like Microsoft's.

My main problem with Apple is they do not provide the variety of hardware that you get with a PC. And that is why they will never become a big company at that rate.

why are there idiots in this thread spouting rubbish like 'youll be more productive on a mac' / utter bull like this is what the computer user community has now been forced to get used to as they fall foul of the APPLE branding and like sheep they all must follow.. I use Macs in work as I'm forced to on occasion and its so limited and locked down.. I love to get back to Windows with the freedoms of being a 'proper' computer user.. Macs are toys in my opinion and when the real work needs to be done, u know the hard stuff like programming and advanced imaging.. it'll be a windows box. Microsoft do need to sort out and streamline their OSs but believe me when I say that having Bill Gates as the overlord is infinetly better than having the egomaniac idea stealing coat tail riding Steve Jobs as that role. Apple are a marketing company now, they market intel PCs that the rest of the world were using for years, dressed in a pretty box with ads from leading agencies portraying their bogus place in market. the concept that Apple innovate is another lie - if you look at the history of the com world you will see just how sly Jobs is... and remember when Apple went tits up bust, who brought them back to life??? it wasn't Steve Jobs, it was good ol Microsoft...
