    yeah, but there's still some programs that you need to run Microsoft for, and Mac hardware is still way more expensive than PC. honestly, if Apple would allow you to buy OS X without buying a Mac I think they'd see a lot more success, as more PC users would dual-boot to get away from reliance on Vista but would still be able to maintain all of their Windows functionality without having to overpay for a Mac system.

    You dont need windows. I have a macbook and i use OS X only on it and i have everything i need for coding, design, and image editing.

    No offense to OP but unless you are familiar with those two operating systems there is no way to opine one or another.

    Not everyone has two or more computers, and those persons who own more than one (or access more than one) often use similar machines, e.g. Windows-based laptop at home, Windows PC at office, library, school or hot spot.

    OSX is the best, fast, smooth, nice... Vista is trash, slow, crash, you must !@#$*! when use vista.

    I've recently become a mac user and I am happy for the most part with the switch. My version of parrallels is broken so I can't emulate windows, which is pretty useful so as to use little shareware programs and well, play chess :)

    As a chess player, I can say with some authority that Macs suck at chess.

    All the decent programs (mostly made by Chessbase) don't work and neither to the plethora of other small programs that were built exclusively for PC.

    As long as you can emulate Windows it's fine, but a chess player has to use crappy java clients for playing online otherwise.

    I agree with others that if OS X was compatible on a Pc many more people would try it. Escpecially because some people dont want to buy a new computer with OS X and find that they hate it by making it available on both it would let you be able to try it.

    MAC OS = Not user friendly ,Not widely used in comparison with Windows.

    Windows XP = The best.
