My old PC has 2gb ram and vista worked fine on it. But my mac has 2gb ram and OS X works 20 times better then vista ever did
It is a complete NO from me. I have been with Macintosh since the System 7 and tried every new release (only because there are some mad people around bringing me PC incompatible files). It is a myth that Mac doesn't hang - it does! Using internet is a complete nightmare! It doesn't have a decent browser. Safari is not a browser it is ****, **** and ****. Forget about easy networking, especially if there are PCs on your network. User interface is nowhere near to that of Windows. Ok, I am a WinXP fan and don't anticipate switching to Vista. But if I was forced to do so, I would not mind. After a couple of days it feels very familiar. People, I cannot understand, why would you want to make your life harder, why would you give yourself an extra pain? eh? What is wrong with Microsoft? Cannot you just accept that the guy is clever and rich? So what? Does that make you feel less miserable if you use a crap computer made by someone who is not as rich as Gates?
Woah, DP has many Mac fanboys! I'm running Vista since it came out, and while it might not be as good as XP was it's still pretty nice.. you just need to have newer hardware. It's really a myth that it crashes a lot, I think I've only had a few 'crashes' (Just turn your PC off / on). And really, a Mac OS isn't an option for me.. on a Mac you can only play chess and patience, and I like to play Call of Duty 4, Crysis etc from time to time .
First off if you did your research you would know safari isn't the only internet browser, Firefox has a mac version which is better then firefox on windows in my opinion. Second the internet was not hard for me it automatically picked up my wireless gateway's signal and i connected to it and it works 10 times faster then my wireless connected PC using vista. And Last the interface is not below windows , OS X kills window's interface in my opinion and if you ask most people even people that have used both they will agree with me.
I switched back to windows a few months ago and I've regretted it ever since. Gave my old Macbook to my wife and it is still going strong running OSX tiger, no problems whatsoever. Since I've had vista on my new ThinkPad, I've had to format and start over about 5 times. OSX just works...
Linux anyone? Microsoft are trying hard to stop people buying the latest range of Linux UMPC's: http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20080609 ...I'm keeping a close eye on the web waiting to get my grubby hands on the Asus Eee PC 1000 (Linux)
