If you switch to Vista now you're setting yourself up for a disappointment. Wait until Microsoft cleans that mess up, I think they're releasing a service pack around June of this year, but right now Vista is terrible, stick with XP.

the one good thing about Mac is that their OSes don't have bugs out of the box..it normally takes Microsoft a couple of service packs to get it right.

Compare Leopard to Vista..I'm still use Microsoft, but you can't disagree that Leopard had less issues on launch than Vista did. Anybody that upgraded their Mac to Leopard had it crash their machine, but it happened to a ton of people that decided to upgrade to Vista out of the box.

another guy from my school tried out Vista today...2 days later he downgraded back to XP. While a select few may have gotten good or average results from Vista, in my experience the majority of users have had many issues. I would definitely choose XP over both, but OS X gives Vista a run for its money, at least in terms of user satisfaction.

Apple is NOT bigger than microsoft

correct me if im wrong(seriously) but i'm pretty sure the only reason Microsoft isn't obliterating and completely impaling Apple business wise is because they legally cant

Just purchased a mac pro... it replaced 3 of my office PC's... 3 monitor setup. Running XP and Vista on the mac with no issues. Love my Mac. I will still probably use both in the line of work that i do but I think the mac was well worth the money for the long run. Short term i would go with a PC. Mac OS you really can't beat for the stability.
