Every OS have its own use... I guess I can't say which one is better. It will depend on the owners needs.

Right. And my hardware is not exceptional.

    2GB RAM
    Core Duo 2
    160GB HD
    128mb graphics card.

Not exceptional but it runs vista perfectly:D

That is good specs, Vista runs normal on any newest Dual Core CPU with 2GB RAM.

I have the same specs as you. Mine is an Intel C2D E6600 2.4Ghz with 2GB Crucial DDR2's, Intel 256MB Video Graphics, Seagate 160GB SATA 3.0GB transfer, ASUS motherboard and Ubuntu 7.10 flies faster than a Concorde here :D

I did the upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10 in 20 minutes total.

Well this computer did not have Vista installed. It was an express upgrade. 2GB seems to be the average these days while 1gb looks like the new 512. At least that's how Sony, Dell, Toshiba and HP make it seem.

I agree having 2GB is basically the new standard because its almost like you need it with all the new softawre that comes out and sucks up all the memory....I have 3GB of memory and am running vista befeore I open any program up I already use 40% of the memory without opening anything.

When I start up my notebook I use 20 percent the most...generally 10-15% for Vista to run.

Just a note for "fanboys" of M$ and Apple.

If you havn't used OS X for a period of more than a month....DONT POST. You cant judge an OS by a simple click around on a friends. If you do, your a bit of a wally! The same goes for Windoze...if you've not used it, don't slate it.

Dont you love the "Windows sucks" "Mac sucks" threads :D

Well I have used Mac's for extended preiods of time. And honestly I don't see what's so great. Yeah it has some nice GUI but that does not cut it. I can't be productive on a Mac.

Coming from an advocate of Vista, that is meaningless.

No because when I used the mac I was about to switch. I was about to buy me a 17 inch $3000 mac book pro. After seeing all the trouble I was getting into I said forget it.

I was referring to your comment of a pretty GUI just not cutting it, which is ironic because that is exactly what Vista is.

Ah but Vista is more than a fancy GUI. It has the GUI but it has the productivity and everything from Xp.

I use my mac for everything exept games. Bootcamp is MADE for games, and all my games work perfectly.

Exactly, it is a tacky piece of eye-candy strapped onto an already perfectly working OS.

Theres nothing tacky about the GUI. I don't understand why people would rather stare at dull and boring interfaces rather than something that is easy on the eye. Just because it looks nice doesn't mean its instantly mainstream garbage.
