I do think zen cart is more convenient ans easy to deal with for beignners.Coz it has a good and full shopping system and easy to integrate with so many zen cart plugins.I think it is better than OScommerce.
I believe that OS Commerce shopping cart software looks to be much better. it has really nice features and new functions. it is easy-to-use software - that's why I highly recommend it for you.
I chose Zen Cart when I need to choose in between them (along with some off others as well). I think Zen Cart is much more powerful with appropriate mods, and most of them are free. However the down side is that mods are easy to install BUT hard to uninstall or upgrade. The concept of its "mods" is not like wordpress or joomla that you can install/uninstall/upgrade easily at the backend. So sometimes to upgrade the mods, and the program itself, you probably better to do a clean install and install the updated mods from zero. Just my opinion.
I think both are good. When I first got into selling things online, I used Zen Cart all the time. It got hacked once, but that's only because I didn't have an SSL on the site. I think as long as you have an SSL, use a free shopping cart like Zen Cart.
