Oscommerce update from php to html- anyone heard of it?

    Hi,

Our site uses .php, but I have been told one of the reasons I'm struggling in Yahoo is that it won't read past the .php, so my catagories are being listed, but the products (of which we have around 950 and counting!) are not! Someone told me I can get an update to make it .html so it is more spiderable (we use Oscommerce version 5) but I can't find any info on it and the guy that built our site has never heard of it! Any comments/suggestions?

What do you consider osCommerce version 5? MS2.2?

Changing from php to html won't make much difference. Have you tried submitting a site map feed to yahoo?

THANK YOU!! :D I think that's the one- it can't do any harm anyway!!

Yes, we have 2 site maps but they have been made to target Google (I presume these will do!?)- Where do I submit it to Yahoo? Is it just to the search engine and submit the url of the site map rather than the main url as I have done in the past?

Use Chemo's Ultimate SEO Urls contribution... You'll jump to no. 1 in both Yahoo and MSN for all your products if you use good titles and meta tagging.

Don't forget to do 301's from the old URL to the new ones, else you loose your current rankings.

If you know osCommerce, you must know what a contribution is. In the contribution section, find this one called Ultimate SEO URLs. It's coded by the code genius nicknamed Chemo.

It has built in 301 support (it's a http redirect mechanism) so you don't have to worry about it.

    What 0PS3O said...
You should absolutely try Chemos contribution - you can get it here: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2823

It's seems daunting at first, but if you follow the instructions it's actually pretty simple. There's also an excellent forum on the oscommerce site.
