I have no doubt he has. Many people with low self-esteem find solitude in letting others think for them. Yes, I think he's a nutjob and so are (at least some) of his followers.

About a mile from my home, in a very nice neighborhood with very nice homes, middle class, there is one house that stands out from all the others. Some nutjob has plastered signs all over his front yard about "freedom to fascism" and other kooky nutjob websites, all over the side of his home that faces the street and in his yard.
