I have SCSI disk with data compressed by Windows Server 2000 but only have a NT 4.0 box to restore it, but since it is compressed it is shown with an "unknown" message in the NT 4.0 disk administrator utility, and nothing else is shown or could be done.

Has anyone had such an issue? Has anyone fixed theirs? Can someone please assist?

Windows 2000 uses NTFS 5.0 file format and Windows NT 4.0 uses NTFS 4.0 format. So you are trying to open the file/disk with earlier version... that's why the issue. They other way around would have worked for backword compatibility. But in this case NT does not know about new feathers in NTFS 5.0. My suggestion is to find a machine with Windows 2000 and read that disk. Then if you like you can move your files to NT box, if it can handle.
