Orkut - Social networking !!

Discussion in 'Google' started by kartik786, Aug 20, 2006.

Google - Orkut , How many of you know about www.orkut.com ?

I see lot of people talking about myspace and hi5 and clones of them, but there are no discussions about orkut.

What do you guys think of orkut. Also are there any orkut clones available ?

People seem to be loving orkut and its estimated that orkut will kill social networking sites like myspace and hi5.

    Whatcha think guys ?

Google bought orkut with much fanfare, but myspace stole its thunder so orkut doesnt seem to be high on google's priority list anymore.

btw orkut's biggest fanbase is in south america and south asia.

I use a lot orkut because of my friends in Brasil, orkut is quite successful in Brasil. However, the server is not good at all.

    Orkut is HUGE in brazil.

Expect to pay about $300 for a freelancer or $50-100 if you buy the script from a website.

Post your project, but don't go with the most expensive freelancers thinking that they are better, it usually means that they did not read your project requirements (read yfs1 ads).

I thought Orkut was an internal google project. The engineers name that made it was Orkut.

Dont think so. On the web some weird name guy has filed against google for stealing their code .

The question here is not that, the question is .... is this social networking platform successful and would you clone it like hi5 n myspace.

    Your question is this -

is this social networking platform successful and would you clone it like hi5 n myspace

    The Answer is this-

It is not as widely successful, but yes it IS successful enough to be called Huge. Also, I would NOT want a clone of it because of the fact that it is not as user friendly as Hi5 or myspace and it is not that unique either.

it depends something unique can really help, users want trust and google can give them the most, probably that can be a reason for success as orkut is attached with google,

myspace has been doing really well, but tht would go on, if there is something new people would run there, after all everyone wants the best stuff !

so it will depend on the features, research and developments for survival and competence between these networks.

I wish to build a niche orkut. So was wondering if there is a clone already done. If not is it feasible to get one in the market.

Although Orkut is not very popular in the U.S., it is pretty popular in Europe and also has a large surge of Brazilian users.
