Original Work and Duplicate Content

I'm working on an article which should in no way be flagged as duplicate content. I'd like to use the article to submit to other sources so I can get linkbacks from various other sources. I understand that I could likely reword the thing and be safe on that front, but I'm curious about what happens if others duplicate my work.

I've looked at a few other threads on the subject, but they all seem to be about existing content and not about the first (original) work. So I'm asking if my original article will be flagged as a duplicate if others pull from it.

    1. Does Google take the article date from locations in their algorithm? (how do they determine which is first?)
    2. Is site PR a factor? (My main page is only a PR 3 thus far)
    3. Is there anything I can do to protect from falling into supplemental hell or or from it being flagged as a duplicate (even though it's the original?)

Thanks in advance for any help...
