Original Content Question

Thanks for the suggestions I've received so far. I've been hard at work adding 50+ party theme pages to my site.

But now I have a question about original content as it relates to recipes. I have some recipes on my site currently that I have actually made myself. I've had them written down for years and honestly don't know where they came from originally (probably from some book). I now want to add some more recipes to my site but am not sure the best way to do this so that I'm a) not plagiarizing content and b) not creating duplicate content.

Are their specific sites (like free recipe sites) where the content is not copyrighted and I could take a recipe and re-write it enough to make it look unique. Of course, recipes can only be re-written a certain amount or you'll change the outcome.

    Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

    Hi Misty Girl,

    I don't have a direct answer to your question but you can usethis website to check if the content you are thinking of using is elsewhere on the web;

    http://www.copyscape.com

You can test your own website to see if the exact same content is written on another, you can then make the necessary changes...,

    Best wishes,

    Carl Henry

Oh & PS: the basic search is free.

I agree that recipes can only be written
    a certain amount.
there is only 1 way to say 2 tablespoons of salt
so i think you should write the recipes as they are
and should be, but the intro to the recipe your own words.

For recipe sites, the title is more important than the body. If your title is unique, you can easily rank well provided with original content. here is a golden advice, add more content than others. Add your tips and suggestions etc in the recipe.

These things should help you rank better by giving you more originality because there are like 100,000 sites on recipes

The fact is that there's nothing wrong if you decide to use some articles to help you to give some ideas. However, nothing beats having unique content at your site.

You can say 2 tbs. salt or salt of two tablespoon quantity..

Hehehehe.. In the internet it is not a duplicate to the original... Only us humans can say its a duplicate.

You can use Google Adwords Keyword toolsto see some other synonyms with great traffic and less advertiser competition. which you can find at resourcesandmoney.blogspot.com/2008/08/blog-optimize-google-keyword-tools.html
