    Hi,

I would like the opinions of the "in the know" SEO experts on here.

    Here is my (hypothetical) scenario:

Lets say you own nikegolfapparel.com and then you buy the domain nikegolf.com

You only want to use one domain for the website.

    1. Do you redirect nikegolfapparel.com to nikegolf.com
    Search Results for: nike golf = 301,000 - 60,500 - 201,000 (broad, exact, phrase)
Search Results for: nike golf apparel = 18,100 - 1,300 - 2,400 (broad, exact, phrase)

So it makes sense to place the site on domain that has the higher volume of searches for THAT phrase nike golf over nike golf apparel?

    Correct?

    2. If you go with scenario #1 above them all pages/url's from nikegolfapparel gets redirected to SAME NAME pages on nike golf site?
    OR
Just do a great BIG redirect ALL pages from nikegolfapparel GO TO nike golf site

Thanks in advance for your input

Redirect NikeGolfapparel to Nikegolf, you wont loose traffic, because wether people will search nike golf, they will find your both sites in search engines. Now NikeGolf.com sounds more simple as adress, you know, more the domain name is simple and short, easier it is to find.

At least , thats how i would do it :).

    Thank you so much.

I have seen that done with jfk airport parking which gets (Broad 22,200 - Exact 3,600 - Phrase 5,400) get redirected to jfk long term parking (14,800 - 4,400 - 6,600).

    1. The main site is jfklongtermparking.com but wouldnt it have been better to use jfkairportparking.com as the main for Extra organic value?
    2. When you search for - jfk parking their jfklongtermparking.com website doesnt show up on 1st page of google? Not on 2nd page? Shows up at bottom of 3rd page of google?
    3. They do not benefit from owning the name jfkairportparking.com organically?

    Your thoughts? Anyone's thoughts?

    Thanks again!
    Y

i am going through same dilemma. the only small difference is that i have different TLDs of the same domain. Somebody advised me i should not redirect them from my registrar or using 301 redirect to my main .com site as its bad for SEO but then what is good for SEO in such a case?
