I have recently started a travel and tourism blog for Dubai, am currently putting up fresh original content on the website daily, I have also got 3 articles published in ezine articles, I was wondering if experienced bloggers could guide me as to what else I can do to market the website. Also how long before I should start seeing some organic or refferal traffic. Thank you for your help.
do backlinks to your site, as it will increase your pagerank, social bookmarking is also a good tool to promote your website such as digg,technorati and others
You have missed one main part of blogging.... which is bookmarking your post... Do this, traffic starts right away...
Thanks guys for your input, i'm a little confused on the whole bookmarking thing if you could elaborate a little that would be great. Do you mean book mark my posts on digg, facebook, etc. I tried that a long time back but never got any traffic so i didnt know if i was doing it right.
Find those forums for travellers, and join in the discussions. Find those blogs about travelling, and make meaningful comments.
If you're producing fresh original content as you said, you should better use them for your own blog which will help you to generate natural links.
what keywords or phrases did you concentrate on? Are there any searches for these keywords? if people are not search for your keywords, then there is no one to visit your website. Use google keyword tool to get an estimate number of searches on your blogs keywords.
It all depends, If your niche is very competitive, maybe never. If it is not very competitive, maybe 1 month or less. It you build backlinks, you will rank MUCH faster!
