Hey, Well, there are three domains I want to buy, but the problem is, the .org and .info versions of all of them are available. The question is, which is better in the long run, .org or .info? Since the sites would be an information site, I'm leaning towards .info, but is .org better for rankings or anything? Thanks, Andrew
I would say info all the way It gets popular day by day (mainly because of their marketing price of the 1st year) Also something you may not know is that .info count to search engines as keyword so for example if someone search for let's say "webhosting info" and you have webhosting.info this will look better to the "eyes" of the engine
You could look at it this way... The registrars are charging 8.99 for .ORG & only .99 for .INFO Which one is worth more according to them ?
yeah just buy both. it's only $1.24 more, and then you can just 301 the .info domain to the org or vice versa.
in my humble opinion, i have been doing a lot of reading and it seems like .info aren't as good for your ranks compared to .com, .net., .org, .edu, and .us see for yourself by typing in a popular keyword in google, look at the first 50 results...you wont see many .info could be because they're not as many in comparison to the others, however I know a huge part of google's PR is quality, and if you can spend $1.00 vs $7 on a domain, .com probably carries a little more weight... just my 2 cents =) hope it helped
No, it doesn't matter for rankings, I've seen infos on the 1st page of Google For an informational site, I'd say go with .info
From an economical point of view, when the price is low the demand is high. The price of .info domains is extreamly low compared to alternatives and as a result many people buy it. if many people buy .info this means that a. the good names will be harder to get in the future and b. this will become a much more popular extention. my recommandation is to buy both, because .info is practacly free and plus it has a short advantage in seo because the word info is something people search and if its a part of your domain name it counts for search engines, but none the less .org looks .. more.. "proffesional" and people are more aware to it.
For a search, if there are .com and .info siteshaving almost the same ranking, then .com and .org will be get a higher importance over .info. This is stated by many SEO experts. If you are serious with your business, go for .org.
