There are no penalties in Google search results for using a .INFO. If no one has done any good for your keywords in SERPs with the better TLDs (.COM, .NET, .ORG), then .INFO is a viable option. The kicker with .INFO is that if an existing .COM, .NET or .ORG is already well-SEOed for your keywords, you're going to have a hell of a time dislodging it from the top of the Google search heap. If all things are equal, .ORG generally looks better. But, if it is a strongly commercial site, .ORG will be viewed as spammy. The .ORG == non-profit thing has stuck hard in the collective mind.
