.org useage for forum / profit

Am I allowed to make profit off a .org website? I do not mean starting up a business selling stuff but just a forum with ads for revenue.

I know it is kinda unethical since it is supposed to be non-profit but is there any laws for this?

 

.org is an organisation, right? Where does it say non-profit only? I mean, they're available so why not capitalise.

anyone can register .org websites, years ago you had to be an organisation to register it, but nowadays it does not matter, worth giving it a try to make money.

never like .org.. seems too low profile for me

 

For forums I think .org is best tld especially those miss a good domain name in other tld.

 

for me, it better than .net and .info
